Where We Source Our American White Oak.

USA MAP 1

We source all of our American oak from the Appalachian region of the United States, specifically Northern Kentucky, Ohio, Indiana, West Virginia, and Pennsylvania. This region is known for its abundant, high-quality oak trees, particularly Quercus Alba, commonly known as white oak. We choose this area because the climate and soil conditions contribute to the oak’s dense grain and strong character, which are ideal for aging wine. By selecting oak from these sustainable forests, we support responsible forestry practices that ensure the health of the land while delivering premium oak products for wine enhancement.

A Glimpse Of
Our Process.

Employees looking at staves

At Oak Chips Inc., we take pride in our meticulous process to ensure every oak alternative is crafted to perfection. From sourcing the finest wood to the final packaging, each step is carefully executed to provide you with premium products that enhance your wine.

Oak Sourcing

The process begins with sourcing our American and French oak. We source our oak from trusted suppliers who prioritize sustainability and quality, ensuring that each piece meets the highest standards for flavor, aroma, and consistency.

Processing & Cutting

The wood is then carefully cut into chips, cubes, staves, or other shapes, depending on the product requirements. This step ensures that each piece is uniform and ready for toasting, which will bring out the ideal flavor profile for wine aging.

Toasting

Toasting is where the magic happens. Our oak undergoes a controlled toasting process, with different levels (light, medium, medium plus, or heavy) to create the desired flavor profile. This step enhances the wood’s natural characteristics and imparts distinct aromas and flavors to the wine.

Inspection

After toasting, each batch is carefully inspected to ensure it meets our strict quality standards. We check for consistency, aroma, and quality to guarantee that the product will deliver the best results for your wine aging process.

Bagging & Labeling

Once the oak passes inspection, it is bagged and labeled for shipment. Each product is carefully packaged to ensure it arrives at your doorstep in perfect condition, ready for you to use in your wine-making process.
